ALL STARS OF SNOW ICE SUPPLIERS Robert Drake Travis Gorski Landscape Snow Sales MERITHALL STAFFING DETROIT MI M eritHall Staffing provides staffing services for construction landscape snow ice and facility maintenance contractors President Alex Riley CSP says MeritHalls growth from a company staffing 25 to 50 people to one that provides more than 300 workers to 30 snow companies is a direct reflection of the efforts of Robert Drake and Travis Gorski Last winter Gorski and Drake were responsible for recruiting screening placing and dispatching over 300 snow workers including laborers sidewalk foremen equipment operators and plow drivers Gorski has 15 years of snow ice management 52 SNOW BUSINESS DECEMBER 2014 www GoPlow com Travis Gorski Robert Drake experience and worked for a top U S contractor before joining MeritHall a year ago transitioning into a human resources and staffing role Drake started plowing professionally at 18 and worked in operations and management for both large and small snow ice management operations that serviced both residential and commercial properties He joined MeritHall two and a half years ago That experience is a key differentiator Riley says because they understand what it takes to be successful in the industry and arent afraid to lead by example Robert and Travis are available 24 hours a day to handle all of the clients needs During a snow event they are involved in everything from scheduling and dispatching to being hands on out in the field Drake and Gorski work with clients ranging in size from one truck operations to businesses with large fleets staffing personnel at all levels of the operation Riley says that they have the trade knowledge to identify and test a job candidates key competencies In addition to getting to know each applicant Robert and Travis also know how important it is to understand their client says Riley They have developed habits that plan for disasters or unforeseen needs They monitor the weather anticipate future problems based on past experiences and create schedules that take into account the possibility of change Riley says the duos service doesnt end once a position is filled They deal with snow 24 hours a day just like their clients and employees Going the extra mile to help a customer often means using creative and flexible problem solving whether its getting out in the field to manage a site or facilitate equipment repair to establishing a more cost effective way for their clients to acquire road salt
