2015 ALL STARS OF SNOW ICE Tom Beishl Account Manager AKEHURST LANDSCAPE SERVICES INC JOPPA MD T om Beishl shines in his role as account manager for Akehurst Landscape Service Inc He oversees a portfolio of snow and grounds maintenance accounts that generate more than 1 million annually Company owner John Akehurst says Beishl exceeds the criteria in my book for this title due to many aspects qualities and skills that he possesses Beishl has been with Akehurst for 25 years which demonstrates his dedication to the company his peers and his clients His longevity is an asset in the fact that his experience plays a vital role in his decision making Akehurst says He is loved and respected by his peers because he is fully engaged 100 in everything that he does Akehurst says Tom is often found crossing boundary lines to help other Akehurst team members to reach the companys objectives he adds One example of that was last winter When Beishl learned about a communication breakdown between another account manager and a client he volunteered to meet with the client and the account manager Tom helped to resolve the service issue that we had by helping his peers in the communication breakdown Akehurst says In my opinion a team is made up by people like Tom who Tom Beishl Kevin Case District Manager CASE SNOW MANAGEMENT INC NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH MA 34 SNOW BUSINESS DECEMBER 2015 www sima org snowbusiness go out of their way to support and help other team members when they are struggling Akehurst says After all TEAM stands for Together Everyone Achieves More And that is why Tom is an all star on the Akehurst Team both with the customers and with his peers W hen trying to prepare for a blizzard the news that one of your largest accounts is going to double the scope of work is the last thing anyone wants to hear However Case Snow Management Inc District Manager Kevin Case ASM received this news just before Storm Juno dropped more than 24 inches of snow in the greater Boston area The client a large electrical company added a parking lot to their scope of work Case was able to change the plans for his district and get an extra loader on site to help with snow relocation The client was able to stay open and operational which helped keep the city from losing power during this critical time In addition Case was responsible for overseeing the companys Transportation Authority contracts another critical account that provides transportation for more than 1 million people in the area on a daily basis He not only managed more than 100 snow removal operations on those accounts but he was asked to remove snow from lots that other contractors couldnt handle He agreed to take these other lots on without hesitation his supervisor Account Manager Neal Glatt CSP ASM says To add to the difficulty of this arduous season with back to back storms and record breaking snow accumulation two managers quit during Juno Refusing to fail Case took on the majority of the work and reallocated the rest among his team Case was responsible for many of our accomplishments last season and most notably for keeping the city running Glatt says He has clearly demonstrated his commitment to both the company and the accounts he manages and is an invaluable part of the management team for our company Kevin Case
