2015 ALL STARS OF SNOW ICE Phil Levato Director of Operations CHICAGO SERVICE GROUP CHICAGO IL A hands on approach to teaching and Jackie Kemp Business Development Coordinator BSR SERVICES INC MARYLAND HEIGHTS MO A fter nearly 20 years in the industry Jackie Kemp is well versed in all things snow and ice BSR Services Inc s Director of Operations Nick Mossotti says In her role as business development coordinator Kemp is a key player on the BSR Services team She knows who her market is what she needs to do to satisfy her audiences when to act and when not to where to be at all times and how to attain quality Mossotti says One of her greatest strengths Mossotti notes is working with people both internally and externally and achieving results that typically exceed expectations Her work ethic is inspiring and often motivates others to follow her lead Despite the long and often intense winter weather in St Louis Mossotti says Kemp is confident and quite unflappable when it comes to making timely decisions and handling adversity She deftly embraces the industrys ever changing technology and evolving equipment which allows her to gracefully perform her job during the most critical situations Kemp helped in the creation of new CRM customer relationship management software which Mossotti says allows us to keep client meetings property notes etc in one centralized location This information can then easily be shared with area managers and crews to ensure that clients properties are serviced according to the contract and their request he says Jackies quest for excellence helps make BSR Services shine Her thirst for education keeps the company 40 SNOW BUSINESS DECEMBER 2015 www sima org snowbusiness progressively moving forward Mossotti says She is an all star both personally and professionally and were proud to have her at our company leading others is one area where Director of Operations Phil Levato shines at Chicago Service Group He often downplays his leadership role and says it is his team that leads him only to prove again that his leadership skills are unmatched says Director of Inside Operations Troy Tarr who nominated Levato A great leader teaches by example and thats certainly true of Levato For instance if he pulls onto a jobsite and someone on the walkway crew is struggling Levato will get behind the snowblower to demonstrate how it should be done In addition Tarr notes that Levato may take over operating a plow truck so the driver can take a break This willingness to work side by side with the members of the team has earned Levato the deep respect of the crew His 17 years with Chicago Service Group is evidence of Levatos dedication to the company Tarr adds His dedication to this company is contagious and requires others to strive to higher standards out of sheer respect Levato and Tarr interact about 17 hours a day from early morning to late evening strategically planning the day and discussing employee lineups reviewing how the workload went and talking over the agenda for the following day It is very common to receive emails throughout the night and early morning which further proves his tenacious passion for this service driven business Tarr says I have woken up at 4 a m to find several emails sent between 10 p m and 4 a m and I often shake my head and say Does this guy ever sleep If this company had about 20 of him we would probably be one of the top companies in the United States The owner often says Find me more of him Tarr says adding I would follow him into a blizzard with a spoon if he said it was the best method of service Phil Levato Jackie Kemp
