2015 ALL STARS OF SNOW ICE Kevin Murray Jason Panovich Management Team CLAPPER COMPANY CANTON OH T he commitment and knowledge of my management team Nick Reina Field Supervisor BULLDOG CONTRACTING INC NESCONSET NY C hris Hembury president of Bulldog Contracting Inc describes Field Supervisor Nick Reina as selfsufficient Reina a retired New York City Police Department detective has been with the company for five years He preplans the companys day to day operations with little to no direction operates a plow truck and assists Hembury in overseeing the companys subcontractors Being reliable and getting their clients businesses open is the top priority Hembury says its not about how much money they will make over the season its about servicing the clients Those clients all commercial and industrial accounts include the Hauppauge Industrial Park on Long Island which houses more than 1300 companies that employ approximately 55000 people Since Reina lives a half mile 48 SNOW BUSINESS DECEMBER 2015 www sima org snowbusiness from the industrial park hes tasked with ensuring the lots and sidewalks are cleared when those employees show up for work Bottom line is that when were trying to get everyone open he always goes and double checks to make sure everythings done right Hembury says Hembury also a retired officer notes that Reina brought tracking sheets from his years with the police department to Bulldog Contracting Reina modified the sheets for the companys use Every operator has a binder of these sheets in their truck to document when service started when service ended and what services were done such as plowing sidewalk clearing and material applications Hes always looking out for me and the company Hembury says Reinas totally proactive Hes a sure thing kind of guy and wont bring something to my attention unless he thinks its going to work for the company allowed us to not only handle the extreme season we had in 2014 15 but we also were able to almost double in size last year and will be increasing by 145 this season says Ron Clapper CEO of Clapper Company That team consists of Operations Manager Kevin Murray and Account Manager Jason Panovich Murray who worked for the company previously and then retired returned last year Panovich had his own snow company but decided to join the Clapper team about a year ago The company has approximately 200 commercial accounts and with strong growth again this season Panovich and Murray have worked hard to build new systems so the company can maintain the level of service it provides Those systems include the implementation of GPS tracking for the companys fleet In his role Murray oversees and sets up all of the companys service partners And this season hell oversee the daytime operations which works well Clapper says because I get to go home and sleep This means the company will be fully staffed day and night throughout the winter Murray will run service calls throughout the day and handle end of the event details like making sure subcontractors hand in their paperwork and packaging everything up to get it to the accounting department In addition hell be heading client relations and putting out any fires Panovich has been instrumental in the companys growth Since hes from the Akron area he knows who to contact and is able to sell and grow the market in the area Clapper says Kevin is really good at procurement and hiring and Jasons a hands on guy We have this We dont go home until were done attitude Clapper says Theyre just good people Nick Reina Kevin Murray Jason Panovich
